# Mac App

> Get started with Rapid Reader on macOS

The Mac app delivers the full Rapid Reader experience with native macOS integration, including menu bar controls and keyboard shortcuts.

  <Step title="Download and Install">
    Download the latest `.dmg` file from the [Downloads page](https://rapidreader.app/download). Open the disk image and drag Rapid Reader to your Applications folder.

  <Step title="First Launch">
    Open Rapid Reader from your Applications folder. Since the app is not notarized with Apple, macOS will block it initially.

    <Warning>
      **Security prompt on first launch**: Right-click (or Control-click) on the app and select **Open** from the context menu. Click **Open** again in the dialog that appears. You only need to do this once.

  <Step title="Add Your Content">
    Add files using **File > Open** from the menu bar, or drag and drop PDF/EPUB files directly onto the app window. Your library syncs automatically.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Start Reading">
    Select a read from your library and press **Space** to begin. Use arrow keys to adjust speed and navigate through your content.
