The Chrome extension lets you instantly speed read selected text or entire web pages without leaving your browser.

Install the Extension

Install Rapid Reader from the Chrome Web Store. Click Add to Chrome and confirm when prompted.

Select and Read

On any web page, highlight the text you want to read and press:
  • Cmd+Shift+R (Mac) or Ctrl+Shift+R (Windows) to read selected text
  • Cmd+Shift+E (Mac) or Ctrl+Shift+E (Windows) to read the entire page
Alternatively, right-click your selection and choose Read with Rapid Reader from the context menu.

Start Reading

A popup window opens with your content loaded. Press Space to begin reading. Use arrow keys to adjust speed and navigate through the text.
Restricted pages: The extension cannot run on certain pages including Chrome settings, the Chrome Web Store, and new tab pages. Use the web app for content from these sources.
