The Firefox add-on lets you instantly speed read selected text or entire web pages without leaving your browser.

Install the Add-on

Install Rapid Reader from the Firefox Add-ons Store. Click Add to Firefox and confirm when prompted.

Select and Read

On any web page, highlight the text you want to read and press:
  • Cmd+Shift+R (Mac) or Ctrl+Shift+R (Windows/Linux) to read selected text
  • Cmd+Shift+E (Mac) or Ctrl+Shift+E (Windows/Linux) to read the entire page
Alternatively, right-click your selection and choose Read with Rapid Reader from the context menu.

Start Reading

A popup window opens with your content loaded. Press Space to begin reading. Use arrow keys to adjust speed and navigate through the text.
Restricted pages: The extension cannot run on certain pages including Firefox settings, the Add-ons Store, and internal browser pages. Use the web app for content from these sources.
